Graduate Guide to becoming a Management Consultant
Management Consultants are employed to suggest ways of improvement and implement strategies within a business that will aid a company's performance. Also sometimes called Strategy Consultants, they analyse problem areas within a business and then create plans to ensure the company gets back on track and is running efficiently.
Management Consultants are often required to learn coaching techniques, management methodologies, keep abreast of ever changing technologies in order to be ready to deal with a rapidly changing business environment. It is a management consultants job to identify best practise business solutions and give an outsiders view on the company in question.
Consultants are often taken on to provide impartial business advice and then move on to a different organisation once they have provided appropriate solutions to their current client.
Consultants can become certified after around 3 years of consulting by gaining the professional qualification of CMC – Certified Management Consultant.

- Can work in an ever changing environment, dealing with different organisations, moving on after short periods of time
Entry Requirements
A solid academic background is expected along with a good degree in a related dicipline dependant upon the area of consultancy you wish to provide. Usually a 2:1 minimum is accepted. Equivalent qualifications or lower are probably not sufficient.
Mnagement consultancy is open to all graduates, ideally comibined with a strong interest in numeracy or analytical problem solving. The following subjects are possibly favoured :-
