What is a Recruitment Consultant?
A Graduate Guide to becoming a Recruitment Consultant.
A recruitment consultant's main function is to find the right person to fill a job vacancy. The vacancies can cover all industries and range from full-time, part-time to temporary and contract roles.

Recruitment consultants also deal with  range of sectors which could include industrial, trade or skilled vacancies and even Managerial, Clerical and commercial posts.

A successful Recruitment Consultant will be able to understand their client's needs and be able to match candidates to the clients given requirements. Candidates are 'sourced' in a variety of ways, from online CV databases, being head-hunted or they could apply directly for a role they have seen advertised by the agency. Recruitment consultants will help candidates to improve their CV,  give advice on interview preparation, negotiate salary levels and obtain references on behalf of the client.

Other duties include hunting for new business, finding new clients and identifying potential new jobs that need to be filled. Consultants are also often responsible for the appropriate advertising and marketing of jobs. They will also deal with subsequent applications. Often recruitment consultants are required to cold-call businesses and employers to find new jobs and discuss what roles they are recruiting for. This requires persistance, perseverance and a keen eye for a potential new job!

Entry Requirements
There are no strict requirements needed in order to become a Recruitment Consultant and Graduate Recruitment Roles are usually open to graduates in any subject.  It is more the personality type and attitude of the person that will enable them to be a successful recruitment consultant.
